A place with almost a new culture and a new set of people:
24th March2012, 11.00p.m. at  night I arrived at the Nizammuddin Station of Delhi. Its not that it is my first time that I am coming to the capital city of India, but yes it is for the first time that I am planning to stay for one month and a half in this city. When I reached it was a chilling night but hard to believe that I was able to bear that cold in a single jacket that I WAS WEARING,which usually does not happen with me.I reached the office and then the flat where all my fellow friends were staying. It was good to see them after a month, since they left Mumbai.
There was altogether a different mixture or I should rather say a bunch of thoughts and emotions going on,just like the ingredients of the BHELPURI.I was happy because I wanted to see the Delhi colleges, meet the youngsters and talk to them about fellowship, their private dreams and what they want to do in their lives and all but.....that night I was feeling very lonely as if I left my baby behind, baby means the whole set of memories that I have of Mumbai,my beloved city.I always say to people that I am not a kind of person who gets attached to places and all,but that night I was really thinking that I am missing something. Was it the mumbai memories, the enormous love of the mumbai people that they have bestowed on me or just an addiction of the Marine drive and mumbai chaat?? I do not know the reason but yes something is there,in search of it...................
The delhi process of recruitment, phase 3 was on Sunday and I was looking for this day.It was really amazing to see a new set of youngsters to work with, who are full of vibrant energy and thoughts. They were just imagining of things they never thought.Lots of dreams and a desire to change the world.I shared fellowship experiences, played with them and learnt what they were feeling. Next morning we started with the different colleges of North and South campuses of Delhi and that seemed to energize me and make me feel excited and delightful. The whole week I had some stomach upset problem, but some how managed to deal with it,keeping my energy up.What was amazingly good was to hear Vivek sharma's talk in the Hansraj college and the Hindu college. It really shook the children's mind and many were questioning after that.Later on moving to Vanky's college and A.R.S.D. college was also infact a good experience. In Vanky there was a movie screening by us related to 12 ANGRY MEN and it was really cool to see this movie after so many years. The whole discussion with the youths was around how to INFLUENCE SOMEONE WITHOUT AUTHORITY,that is one of the skills we thoroughly practice in our fellowship too when we work with the Principals of the school.A tiring but a  lot of contentedness........
The city from a distance looks huge, with lots of big institutions whether its Educational or its Governmental.Lots of shopping complexes and lots of eatery houses. When I see and think about Mumbai colleges like Xaviers,H.R.,Jaihind or K.C.  for that matter, which are the top most colleges, they merely have big spaces like I see in the D.U. campuses. So really was good to see that students have good amount of spaces here but at the same time cheers to Mumbai and salute them for making colleges in small spaces in a smart and sexy manner....!!!
I  could see a difference in the way college girls dress up in Delhi and Mumbai and it was very interesting to observe these minute differences. It was good to see how city orients us and our thoughts at times and how it moulds us as a person.I am a third person to both the cities and it feels good to observe in a neutral way what is happening around me and to me...!!!!
Its hardly a month now that I am trying to acquaint myself with things here, currently enjoying staying in the office flat as I am liking it and also reading some interesting books for a change, and building a taste of this city in a natural way, taking my own time.....!!!!
